I finally got around to trying it under Ultrafractal and found that the two programs produce different images from the same parameters. In fact, where Fractint produced interesting images, UF simply produced a blank screen. I gave up for several months thinking that UF just didn't like the formula. The other day I tried again and this time zoomed way out from the location that Fractint liked and then hunted around. I found similar features in the fractal, so I treated it like a fresh new one and went hunting in earnest. Lots of neat stuff in the nooks and crannies. This image is typical, lobes of granite-textured stone with coatings of something melted and flowing. Some of the surface is fractured. Be sure you have a recent version of frac_ml.frm, earlier versions contained a copy of the formula in which Ultrafractal detected errors (e as a variable). As I said several times also on this list: Start with a M-set of my formulas, use the switch feature of UF to get a nice Julia set. When you have one, duplicate it, try different coloring shemes and copy&paste them as layers into one image. Then it remains to play with merging modes. As I do not plan images on beforehand with several components most often the image coordinates will be identical. Sometimes it is useful to zoom out, get an overall impression and only then zoom in into interesting parts... Give it a try.. I had a little problem with one of them because I got a little sloppy when I highlighted the parameters. Just be really careful that you get _exactly_ the parameters, starting with the title/left curly bracket and ending with a right curly bracket. I had to look at a good parameter set to refresh my memory as to the proper structure. If you can read the parameters, there is absolutely no reason it shouldn't work.
