This is the archive of posts made to Fractal-Art, a public mailing list devoted to the discussion of all aspects of fractal art. To subscribe to Fractal-Art, send e-mail to 'majordomo@icd.com' and put *only* the following line into the message body: subscribe fractal-art This archive covers through May 16, 1998, which is the entire duration it was hosted at ArosNet. It is now hosted at icd.com, and archives of new messages can be obtained from Majordomo directly by sending e-mail to 'majordomo@icd.com' with *only* the following line in the body: index fractal-art Majordomo will respond with further instructions. Important notes on this archive: ================================ 1) For your convenience, the archive files are compressed in two formats: gzip (*.gz) and zip (*.zip). The zip format, though done on a unix system, is PKZIP compatible. To uncompress the *.gz files, your system must have 'gunzip'; to uncompress the *.zip files, your system must have a PKZIP-compatible "unzipper", such as pkunzip.exe for pc systems (some unix systems have 'unzip', which is usually PKZIP-compatible with the correct switch.) 2) Each archive file contains 100 posts to Fractal-Art as noted by the range numbers. They are in chronological order as received here at ArosNet (see the Appendix below showing the date range for each file.) 3) Each file has been kept in unix-mail format (the vanilla variety of 'mail'). For those who don't have the convenience of unix-mail, the only disadvantage is that you'll have to wade through full blocks of e-mail headers before each message. 4) Not all posts made to Fractal-Art are included in this archive if they are deemed by the list administrator to violate the Charter (mostly for posts which are "off-topic" or contain "ad hominem" attacks, or are simply "empty" discussion-wise.) This should not be construed as selective censorship. In "grey" areas, posts are kept in the archive. The administrator's decision for what is and is not included in the archive is final. 5) Since this mailing list is not private, the archive will be available to anybody with ftp access, whether or not they are subscribers to Fractal-Art. The administrator maintains the right to advertise the existence of the archive. If you have made a particular post to Fractal-Art which you want removed from this archive, send your request for removal, stating your reasons, to the administrator. The administrator's decision on this matter is final. 6) Since most Internet users have ftp access (and for those that don't, should look around for an Internet Service Provider that does -- most Web browsers support ftp), the administrator will not e-mail any portion of this archive. Do let me know if you have any problems accessing the archive files or with the policy of this archive. Damien M.
